Today's charity cheer!

As I've been away and also really busy of late, I've not been in my local two charity shops for about a month = eek! They must have been saving all the good stuff for me as I scored big time today and this is what I got!
60s pyrex mixing bowl - £2
And a close up on the pattern. I have been wanting one of these for AGES! I hardly ever see patterned Pyrex (only on other people's blogs!) so was thrilled to find this coral coloured acorn print beauty!
"Remember you're a Womble"! 70s wombles pillow case - 20p
Bargain of the day - 2 brand new and unused Yankee Candles - £1.50 each. This size retails for around £15 each so I got a great deal here!
New Look Bow & Polka print top - £1
Topshop card suite print top - £2
And a close up on the prints - very me!
I also went out for a pub lunch with my friend Jo today, and she gave me this fab uncut retro apron pattern that she found for £1 in the Red Cross shop - yay!
And I have just the perfect fabric to make one up in, too:
2 meters of this Fabric Traditions retro kitchen print was just £3.50 from my local fabric by weight shop.
All in all, a great days haul :)

Back from my holidays!

Last week, I went on a much needed holiday. Being self-employed is truly amazing, but I do take very little time off - I usually work nearly every day, night, weekend and all over Christmas! Not that I'm complaining, I love what I do - but I always allow myself a full week off in June where I take a break, and do absolutely no work at all, which is always bliss!
This year Michael and I went to the beautiful Algarve, in Portugal. Here are a few snaps from my trip.....
The beach...quiet, unspoilt and hot!
Outfit one evening...wearing my Prada-esque Primark hot rod print skirt, red vest and bow cinch belt from H&M
We went to an amazing sand sculpture exhibit. All these are made entirely just from sand and water!
And VERY talented sculpters!
Loved Willy Wonka!
Me with Hello Kitty :) I carried an umbrella with me round the show, as it was 35 degrees centigrade (about 95 F) and the sand was reflecting it as well - scorchio!
Loved Frankie!
We also wandered round castles
Quiet fishing bays
and admired ornate church buildings. Really enjoyed our trip!
Another outfit I wore one night - 60s Hawaiian Tiki Dress that I got for $6 off Etsy. Styled with my trusty H&M waist bow cinch belt.
We also managed to find a charity/thrift shop or two on our travels and picked up these cool things:
Olive print retro glass - 50c (about 40p). It did have a friend, but it got smashed in transit - boo hoo :(
And this vintage psychedelic tray for €1 (about 85p)
I feel really refreshed, and back in the swing of things now so will be catching up on all your blogs this weekend :) x

Jubilee Weekend Vintage at The Art Deco Midland Hotel

This weekend just gone as I'm sure you all know was the Queen's Jubilee celebration. I decided to do a vintage fair on the bank holiday Monday at the stunning Art Deco Midland Hotel in Morecambe, which is in Northern England. You can find out more about this beautifully renovated 30's hotel in an earlier blog post I did here. And so, some pics for you!
Outift - Victory Jumper from original 40s pattern (that you can download for FREE from the V&A website here), as knitted for me by my sister Elaine. Its a little bit different from the original as it has a plain sleeves and back, instead of all over pattern - which I thought was a bit busy. I also wanted mine in Black, not Royal Blue. I LOVE it! My sis is a star :)
Tried out some different hair for the show - Faux Bangs, and a 40's snood. The snood was hand crocheted by GinPoodle on Etsy (A UK Seller). Really good quality and a bargain price.
50s specs I got from the vintage fair the other week that I had my prescription put in, Bakelite and Bamboo bangles and Dolly Cool jewellery, of course! Oh, and a Union Jack bow brooch for a nod to the Jubilee!
Inside the fair
Lots of fab vintage goodies. I was well behaved and bought nothing even though there was tons of cool stuff!
Outside the front of the hotel

Nice ride!
Sunny Morecambe seafront
And my friend Kate was there too with her 50s Ice cream van - Every Day is Like Sundae
I had a Stem Ginger cornet, yum.
And my view from the stall looking out the front of the hotel - fab!
All in all a great day, and lucky with the weather too. Always important with UK events! :)

My last sewing creations; Flamingo dress & Mexican cushions and a new tent

I finished my Flamingo dress last week, hooray! This is the second time I've worn it as I forgot to take photos last week! I wore it for my sewing class this morning, where I also completed a full circle skirt, which I made from the vintage fruity tablecloth I got in the Charity shop last week....I'm hoping to wear it tomorrow so will make sure to get a photo :) Here is the flamingo dress...
Same style as the others....I will be trying new styles out soon, this is just so quick and easy to make and comfy to wear! I've also got my new (old!) 50s catseyes on that I got back from the opticians this week...they are my new fave!
And the back view. Matching hair tie of course! :) I'm selling this print too on my website - they are flying! Everyone loves a bit of flamingo! You can get one here
It was also one of my best buddies 30th this weekend just gone, and I decided to make her something special - some Mexican blanket style cushions!
I really wanted to keep them for myself! ha ha! The bobbles were a pain to sew on but I think worth it....
Bobbles! The fabric is Alexander Henry 'Ojo De Dios' from the Folklorio collection.
I also bought myself a tent today. If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know how much I loathe camping! However, over the next few months, I am camping at THREE events that I am doing - gah!
One of the things I hate is putting up/down the tent. So, I thought I would invest in one of these;
A pop up tent! Wow, it literally springs out of the bag is 2 seconds! And yes, I can put it down! I found it really easy, as Michael has these little tent things for his photography that fold in a similar kind of way. Takes about 30 seconds, including putting in the bag  - amazing! AND its spotty as well.
Camping doesn't seem quite so bad now! ha ha!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend! :) x
